School Site Council

School Site Council Needs You!

The 2017-2018 AHS School Site Council (SSC) meets:

  • Once a month on the following dates: 9/11/17, 10/9/17, 11/13/17, 12/11/17, 2/5/18, 3/12/18, 4/9/18, 5/7/18  (*There is a mandatory training on 9/18/17 at the PVUSD Board Room for all new Site Council members.)

  • From 5:00 – 6:30pm in room I 204

  • Translation is provided

Site Council Member Rewards:

  • Hands-on involvement in improving AHS

  • Networking with other parents and school staff

  • We have fun enjoying each other’s company while improving the school!

Site Council Member Responsibilities:

  • Attend and vote at monthly meetings

  • Occasional homework of reading in advance of the next meeting

  • Contribute to School Improvement Plan review and revision

2017-2018 Site Council Parent Representative Elections Process:  AHS Site Council Needs You!

We’re looking for one AHS parents to serve a two-year term as a member of the School Site Council which meets once a month (see dates above) from 5:00 – 6:30 pm in room I204.


Timeline for 2017-2018 Site Council Elections:

  • By Wednesday, August 30th at 10:00am:  If interested, please submit a 200-word or less biography describing your qualifications.  Send biographies to peggy_pughe@pvusd.net titled “SSC Biography.”  Please CC AHS office manager, Monica Nowlin at:  monica_nowlin@pvusd.net   
  • Friday, September 1st:  Ballots that include Candidate Biographies will be emailed to all families.
  • By Tuesday, September 5th:  Please vote for your Site Council rep using the Google Form ballot that was sent on 9/1. You must submit your vote by 3:15 on 9/5.  
  • By Wednesday, September 6th:  Candidates will be notified by phone so they may attend the Monday, September 11th Site Council Meeting as a voting member.
  • Monday, September 11th--1st meeting of the 2017-2018 school year.  5:00-6:30 in I204.

*Meeting days and times according to the AHS Website Calendar are subject to change according to the needs of the new School Site Council and in an effort to align with other Aptos/PVUSD schools and the AHS Boosters Club.  Meetings are almost always held on Mondays and the public is always welcome.

From AHS Site Council Bylaws: Article IV Section1.3 Eligibility of Membership:

“Parent members shall be selected by their own peer group. Parents shall have at least one pupil attending AHS during their entire two year term. A parent or guardian of a pupil representing parents may be employed at a school other than the one which his/her child or ward attends.”
